Maxillary Dental Infection pathways depend on the root length of the infected tooth.
There are four main types of Maxillary dental infections.

There are two main types of dental infections in tooth with a short root:
1. tooth infection pathway resulting in a buccal abscess.
2. tooth infection pathway resulting in a palatal abscess.

There are two main types of dental infection pathways in a tooth with a long root:
1. a tooth infection reaching and infecting the maxillary sinus, resulting in maxillary sinusitis.
2. a tooth infection pathway that reaches the cavernous sinus, resulting in a blood clot, or an infection of the brain or the lining of the brain.
